Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has been funded on Fig in less than a day

How much will it end with?

Welp, that was fast. Just 24 hours after revealing that "Project Louisiana" was indeed Pillars of Eternity 2 while simultaneously launching its Fig campaign, the project has already hit its funding goal. It seems Obsidian Entertainment was prepared for this outcome, as they quickly posted their first backer update thanking the 11,300+ backers that helped fund the project while revealing their first stretch goal.

The first stretch goal, which will be unlocked at $1.4 million (probably by sometime tomorrow) is the addition of Subclasses. Players will be able to choose one of two subclasses that are tied to each class, creating an even deeper level of specialization. The examples they give are the Nalpazca for the Monk and the Ghost Heart for the Ranger. Nalpazcas can receive added boosts when you use drugs but have a higher threshold for getting wounded, so there's a bit of give and take.

Obsidian also announced that you will be able to import your character from the original game into Pillars of Eternity 2, with all previous choices having an impact on the initial state of the game world. The save import feature is set to be cross platform, so it doesn't matter if you own the first Pillars of Eternity on Steam or GOG, you will be able to do it even if you decide to change.

As of this writing, Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire has earned $1.3 million and still has 27 days to go.
