Notch No Longer Minecraft Lead Developer

A new regime is in charge of Minecraft…sort of.  Yesterday, Notch officially handed the Minecraft reigns over to co-developer Jens Bergensten.

Bergensten is now the new lead developer on Minecraft which means he will have the final say in all design decisions.

"We’ve been working together on Minecraft for a year now, and I’m amazed at how much in synch we two are when it comes to how to design the game. And when we don’t agree, we discuss it and something much better comes out at a result. He’s truly a great person to work with, and I feel very confident handing over the leadership of Minecraft to him," Notch said on his official blog.

Notch did note that he will continue helping out with Mineraft, but will also be starting work on a new project.

You can follow Bergensten on Twitter with the latest Minecraft changes and ideas.  Bergensten has confirmed that MInecraft will continue to be updated as long as people continue to buy the game and it remains popular.
