Nintendo launches Wii U Deluxe Digital Promotion, site now open

If you own a Wii U Deluxe Edition, you'll be glad to know that the Deluxe Digital Promotion is now open to get you some rewards on downloadable titles. Nintendo has opened up the full site for the program, where you can check out details on this promotion.

The gist of what you need to know is that you'll get 10 percent back in points from all of your Wii U eShop game purchases. So if you purchase a digital version of a retail title priced at $59.99, for example, you'll get 599 points. You can then redeem 500 of those points for $5 in eShop credit. So far I've only purchased Mighty Switch Force: Hyper Drive Edition, so I've got but a measly 99 points myself.

It should be noted that the Deluxe Digital Promotion has an end date of December 2014. You'll be able to earn points until that date, and you'll have to exchange them for codes by March 2015. You'll then have to redeem those codes by June 2015. After that, you can spend those digital dollars whenever you see fit.

If you buy a lot of digital games (and you own an external storage device), this program seems quite ideal. Granted you should probably be sure you really want the games you're downloading as there's no way for you to trade those in. Still, it's a cool promotion and one that a lot of folks should take advantage of.

As of this writing this offer is only available to Wii U Deluxe owners. No word on whether it'll cross over to offer similar points rewards on 3DS eShop games, but given the fact that the Nintendo Network will be extending to the dual screen handheld, that's certainly a possibility.
