BioWare today announced that a new Dragon Age game custom-designed for social networking site Facebook will launch in February 2011.
Titled Dragon Age Legends, the game will give players their first taste of the Free Marches, the primary setting of Dragon Age II. Players, along with their Facebook friends, will take on challenging quests within an engaging storyline, share rewards and grow their own kingdoms. Legends will also include character customization and an upgrade system.
“We are privileged to be working with BioWare to bring the Dragon Age universe to the hundreds of millions of gamers on Facebook,” said Mark Spenner, general manager of EA 2D. “Our goal is to change the perception of social network games and attract new players to the Facebook platform by raising the quality bar. Dragon Age Legends will deliver a deep, sophisticated experience, and we will continue to delight gamers by adding new features and content far into the future.”
While some gamers might want to turn their noses up at a social networking game, BioWare is throwing in a little bonus to those who play Legends — exclusive unlocks for Dragon Age II. There’s no word yet on what those unlocks might be, but they might make Legends worth a look for completionists or Dragon Age fans looking for a little something to tide them over before the sequel hits store shelves in March 2011.
