The infamous AC-130 is a gunship used by the United States Air Force. It appeared in COD 4: Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2, and is also set to appear in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Originally appearing as a single-player only vehicle in the original Modern Warfare, the AC-130 was obtained as a killstreak reward in Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer. Now, the AC-130 returns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's single player mode. The following two screenshots showcase some AC-130 aerial gameplay in what appears to be a French city.
As you can see the AC-130 will contain two types of weapons: Bofors Cannon and M102 Howitzer. You'll also notice, unlike previous version, that the AC-130 imaging camera is no longer thermal. Thank god! Now I can clearly see the destruction I'm causing.
The AC-130 also appears in the Survival Mode as a reward which can be bought. The player can throw a purple smoke marker on the ground and the AC-130 will fire upon that location. Lastly, the AC-130 will also appear as a kill streak in Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer, though it looks as if the missiles take longer to hit the ground.
