Today composer Jonathan Geer published his original soundtrack for Neptune Gasoline, an unreleased title from Vertigo Gaming. The 13-track album is available for a minimum price of $2.99.
Developer David Galindo put Neptune Gasoline on hiatus in March, explaining in a blog post that he neglected to test the gameplay mechanics first, assuming that what he wrote down on paper would work without problem. He's now concerned the game might not be fun:
I started up a new level, cleared my head, and made a challenge for myself: stop playing the game when you feel it gets boring. I lasted about six minutes … That happened back in November, and since then I’ve spent the last four months trying desperately to shape a game out of the $2,000+ assets I’ve already paid for.
Galindo is apologetic about the troubled project: "I feel like I let Jonathan Geer (composer) and Sara Gross (artist) down, and the people that follow us down. I also let myself down. I was too cocky, too foolish not to get a gameplay demo up and running. It was a horrible month."
The creator said he intends to return to Neptune Gasoline but needs to complete a fresh endeavor first — using the lessons he's learned in the past year, of course. Galindo plans to announce the new game "sometime this month."
Neptune Gasoline, an "action packed, management style sim game," was planned for release on PC early this year.
