NeMo
S.A. announces the finalists in the NeMo Arena Game Design Competition.

With
the announcement of the finalists, the People’s Choice voting to select the
ultimate winners in the NeMo Arena Design Competition begins. The competition,
with the wide range of submissions  seven countries are represented in
the ten finalists  and the equal division between professional and
students represented, demonstrates the flexibility and strengths of game
creation in NeMo (www.nemo.com).

The
brainchild of NeMo and Ipion Virtual Physics GmbH (www.ipion.com),
and sponsored by 3dfx Interactive (www.3dfx.com),
this competition was designed to allow game developers to experiment with of
the immense potential of real-time physics simulation while demonstrating
their creativity and inventiveness.  This is the result bringing the
Ipion virtual physics simulator to the NeMo development platform.

Users
to download trial version of the upcoming Physics Pack and meshes to serve as
a starting point for game creation in the competition.  Once the
contestants completed their creations, these were uploaded to the NeMo site.
Since one of the most important criteria in the competition was file size
(500kb), all of the judging (and playing!) will be conducted over the web,
even for the creations that take full advantage of NeMo’s capabilities.

"The
large number and the overall quality of the submissions made narrowing the
field down to five finalists in each category extremely difficult", said
Frederique Krupa, the main judge for the competition.  "The NeMo
jury was also particularly impressed by the submissions in the ‘NeMo Trial
Version’ category, in view of the 50 behavior building block limit."

The
People’s Choice voting, where the NeMo community will select the final winners
(and who get the prizes), will be conducted between May 2nd to 31st.
All voters will be automatically entered in a second drawing for a 3dfx
Voodoo5(tm) board and NeMo T-shirts.  To participate in the voting
(entries are to be judged on ‘addictiveness’, fun, and visual impact) or view
the finalists, follow the link to:  www.theswapmeet.com/index_ipion.html.

What
is NeMo?

The
NeMo family of products allows creators wanting to add interactivity to their
3D environments easy access to two levels of development, interchangeably.
NeMo Creation(tm) allows non-programmers (game designers, prototypers, web
developers, storyboarders and architects) to quickly apply interactive
behaviors to 3D models created in the industry standard modeling programs, see
the results in real-time 3D, and distribute their results as files that run in
the NeMo player.  NeMo Dev(tm) is specifically designed to meet the needs
of cutting edge game developers, allowing them low-level access to NeMo’s
technology, behavior creation in C++ as well as all the functionality of NeMo
