Monster Hunter World to get massive Iceborne Expansion in Autumn 2019

A frozen monster-infested wonderland

Capcom has announced the first major expansion to their smash hit Monster Hunter World. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is the newly teased content and is planned to come out autumn 2019 for PS4 and Xbox One. PC players will have to wait a little longer. Check out the teaser trailer!

Monster Hunter World is a turning point for the long-standing action-RPG franchise which has enjoyed success on Nintendo’s mobile gaming systems for a long while now. Surprising – especially for a Japanese publisher – with the advent of a new console generation, Capcom decided to explore uncharted territory and designed Monster Hunter World for home consoles. A place rapidly loosing importance in Japan, Monster Hunter’s main focus.

The gamble paid off in spades, thanks to the worldwide audience welcoming Monster Hunter World on more powerful platforms. So, it comes as little surprise that Capcom is working hard on supporting their game with various DLC. With Iceborne however, it’s the first major expansion players can look forward to later next year.

Similarly to how Monster Hunter World first arrived on consoles, Iceborne too will launch on PS4 & Xbox One initially, with PC following at a later point. We hope the wait won’t be as long as the main game but at least it’s a sign that Capcom is putting enough care into the PC version.

While the trailer doesn’t show all too much, the title Iceborne and the icebergs shown in the video are heavily hinting at a brand-new location. Namely, a frozen wildland. Of course, Iceborne will feature a lot more than just a new area. Entirely new monster to hunt, a new quest difficulty, new moves and more will all make Iceborne a massive new playground to explore.

Stay tuned for spring 2019 when Capcom plans to announce more details on Iceborne.
