Modern Warfare 3 Countdown Surfaces

A countdown in the now famous Modern Warfare font has appeared on www.findmakarov.com, and there are only four days remaining. What’s happening in those four days? The next edition of the Game Developers Conference, where Modern Warfare 2 was revealed in 2009, will be well underway, and it looks like Modern Warfare 3 has a guest spot.

That Video Game Blog first reported the news after receiving a number of dog tags with “Shepherd” imprinted on them.

If the above URL seems familiar, it’s because Vladimir Makarov was the super-villain in Modern Warfare 2. The site opens up with sights and sounds recognizable to all Call of Duty fans, eventually landing on a timer set to tick to 0:00:00:00 at 7 a.m. PST on Wednesday, March 2.

It’s unclear who is working on the latest Modern Warfare following the chaos at Infinity Ward, and rumors of both Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games as developers are floating around. Whoever gets the nod will be behind what is all but certainly becoming one of the year’s biggest games.
