Modders release teaser for mod to bring GTA IV’s Liberty City to GTA V

Boom.

We are just two days into the new year and a group of modders have already released a teaser for a Grand Theft Auto 5 mod that would bring Grand Theft Auto 4's Liberty City to the game. Luckily for us, the modders have made it clear that Liberty City wouldn't remove Los Santos or Blaine County, but add to the game.

“The Liberty City will not replace Los Santos or Blaine County, but appears across the sea. Using the power of OpenIV and openFormats, we [were] able to bring Liberty City right into GTA V map," the group, OpenIV, stated in the announcement.

The Liberty City map is decently sized in GTA IV and remains pretty big in GTA V, so the modders decided to make the mod act like an "automatic convertor that converts Liberty City from your copy of GTA IV into your copy of GTA V." A method that would drastically reduce the mod's file size.

The modders claim that the Liberty City mod will not be playable online, as Rockstar Games forbids it, and warns that there is a "high probability" of being banned from GTA Online with the mod. The release date has yet to be decided, but they are trying to make it a reality as soon as possible.
