Speaking at an Amazon event in the UK, Brett Siddons, group marketing manager at Microsoft, said that the Kinect is competitively priced when compared to the competition. The console maker officially announced the $150 price of their motion sensing peripheral early last week, but gamers seemed divided on the device’s price tag.
Siddons said that when one does “the maths,” they will find that the $150 gives users the ability to track six people, with two playing, and comes with the game Kinect Adventures. Meanwhile, PlayStation’s Move is priced at $50 for the main controller, and an additional $30 for their Navigation controller, with a bundle (the main controller, a PlayStation Eye, the Navigation controller and a copy of Sports Champions) retailing at $99. Doing the math, that’s about $160 for two players, which is in fact a bit more than the cost of Kinect.
The Wii is priced at $199. It comes with a Wii Remote, Nunchuk, WiiMotion Plus, Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. The math adds up to a two-player experience at roughly $270. However, unlike the other two devices, that cost includes the entire console.
