I don't know about you folks, but Inside Xbox's free streaming service has provided me excellent news updates, video tutorials, and game coverage for quite some time; as you can imagine, it was saddening to hear that Microsoft officially canceled the service today.
According to Xbox Live's Major Nelson, Larry Hyrb, the decision was not made easily, as the Inside Xbox staff was known for its incredible dedication that yielded extremely long working hours – I mean they produced fantastic video after fantastic video chalked full of worthwhile information.
"We want to express our sincere appreciation to all of our viewers and fans of Inside Xbox, and remain committed to providing our members with access to high-quality news and information via the console, social media channels and Xbox.com," he said on his blog.
"We will be leveraging third-party news and video content available through a variety of existing and future partners, and supplementing this content with select first-party offerings. However, day-to-day news content and weekly programming currently offered though Inside Xbox will cease production in the United States. This includes shows like Major’s Minute, Featured Videos and Insider Moves packaged under the Inside Xbox brand."
It's interesting to see that they are canning a free service that's a beloved dashboard item at the same time they are launching a free IGN application that provides previews, news, and more. Nevermore, we hope that the Inside Xbox crew lands on their feet and find excellent homes to utilize their outstanding gifts.
