Mad Max release date revealed; PS3 and Xbox 360 versions canceled

Pre-order incentives announced

Two years ago Mad Max made its official appearance at E3, last year in April it was quietly delayed. What will this year have in store for Mad Max? The answer is a release, but on fewer consoles than were previously promised.

Announced today, Mad Max will launch on September 1st in the Americas for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Avalanche Studios, the developers behind Just Cause, have decided to nix the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 version of Mad Max. The cancelation has allowed the team to optimize the current-gen experience.

Honestly, it was a surprise that Mad Max was even being developed for the PS3 and 360.

If you are stoked to be getting in on the Mad Max experience, there's a pre-order incentive also, because of course there is. All those pre-order will receive a fully upgradeable Magnum Opus car body called the Ripper; it comes with a V8 engine, off-road tires and ramming grill.
