Paul W.S. Anderson has found his Ada Wong. According to Milla Jovovich's recent tweet, "Ada Wong in RE5 is being played by Chinese actress Li Bingbing!" Ada Wong is the latest video game character to appear in the Resident Evil films, along with the additions of fan-favorite characters like Leon Kennedy (Johann Urb) and weapons specialist Barry Burton (yet-to-be-cast).
Li Bingbing will portray the role of the Chinese secret agent hired on by "The 3rd Organization" to reveal the treachery of the Umbrella Corporation. In the Resident Evil 2 video game, Wong joins forces with Leon Kennedy as they work to steal a sample of the Las Plagas virus for Albert Wesker.
The Resident Evil movie series has been met with mixed criticism from movie-goers and fans of the game. Despite gimmicky 3D visuals and a plotline that strays from the games, the series continues to fair well in theaters, with Resident Evil: Afterlife bringing in $296 million worldwide.
Still, director Paul W.S. Anderson is listening to fans, and taking their input to heart with Resident Evil: Retribution. Addressing criticisms concerning Afterlife, Resident Evil: Retribution will limit the downtime and up the action.
