Leading Battlefield 3 Fan-Site Auctioned for $37,500

This week, analysts predicted that Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will generate over $1.4 billion in Q4.  I assume that is just from sales of the games alone, and not including the profit thousands of others will make off of YouTube channels dedicated to BF3 and MW3 kills, competitions, and fan-sites dedicated to these extremely popular games.

Most recently, BF3Blog.com, which has been claimed as the leading Battlefield 3 fan-site in the world, had tried to capitalize on the popularity of Battlefield 3.  A user by the name of "as2020" had listed an auction at Flippa for BF3Blog.com with a starting bid set at $37,500.  LIsted 17 days ago, it appears that the auction was unsuccessful.  It's hard to feel too bad for the site though.  With over 2 million unique visitors per month and 5 million pageviews, the site has already generated quite a bit of money.

It'll be interesting to see what direction the fan-site/blog goes from here with the launch of Battlefield 3 coming October 25 for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.
