Interplay Announces Antaeus Rising For PC

FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INTERPLAY
ANNOUNCES ANTAEUS RISING FOR THE PC.

IRVINE,
California, JANUARY 10, 2001 – 14* East, a division of Interplay Entertainment
Corp. (NASDAQ: IPLY), is proud to announce the development of Hostile Waters™:
Antaeus Rising® for the PC. Antaeus Rising, developed by Rage Software, one
of the UK’s premiere development houses, is a real-time strategy game
combined with 3RD person action elements.

It
is the year 2032. The entire world is at peace for the first time. Together,
the human race is moving to become a true world civilization. Humanity had
forgotten war and put away its weapons …until the bombings started. A cabal
of Old World magnates – the once powerful financiers, the despots and
Presidents, the death-loving military men – are all working together to
destabilize the planet and return Earth to its fractured, hate-ridden war
economy past.

The
only way to fight the Cabal is to relearn war – by raising the Antaeus.
Antaeus, the last of the adaptive cruisers, the greatest war machines ever
built, is a carrier armed with an onboard nanofactory capable of generating
tanks, attack choppers, and fighter planes in seconds, each crewed and piloted
by the minds of dead soldiers downloaded into “Soulcatcher” chips. With
Soulcatchers a crewmember can “die” only to be re-born seconds later,
ready to battle again. Now, to save the world for eternal peace, humanity must
go to war. To save the future, they must revive the past. In Antaeus Rising,
players will control construction, research, and strategic planning from
onboard the Antaeus in traditional real-time strategy game style, using an
innovative 3D strategic map to monitor their unit’s progress, allowing them
to give new orders in the midst of the action. To be victorious, however,
players can directly control any of their units in 3rd person perspective and
fight alongside the tanks and choppers they just gave orders to, making
strategic decisions on the fly while engaging in furious 3rd person
combat.

Hostile
Waters: Antaeus Rising is the next level of both strategy and action games,
adding a new level of excitement to classic resource management and unit
control. Players have the ability to jump into 3rd person action and take
control of up to 15 vehicles on-screen at any time, placing them right in the
heart of war. In order to overcome the game’s strategic challenges and
puzzles the player must coordinate their actions with the actions of the other
units under their control, giving a multiplayer feel even during the single
player campaign. As players advance throughout the game, they acquire new
technology while moving the storyline forward, eventually facing the game’s
mysterious ultimate enemy… something even more evil than the Old World
Cabal! Hostile Waters: Antaeus Rising is scheduled to ship in Q2, 2001.
