Indiecade Showcase @ E for All in
Los Angeles to Feature the Vital Edge of Independent Game Making

IndieCade today announced it will be
showing the cutting edge of independent game development at the E For All Expo
in Los Angeles on October 18-21 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The
IndieCade showcase will include games that highlight the creativity and vision
that independent game developers are incorporating into their work.

IDG, the organizers of this
inaugural E for All, invited IndieCade to include the event in IndieCade’s
series of international festivals and showcases of independent games.
IndieCade’s independent game showcase at E for All will follow on the heels of
an IndieCade showcase panel in Tokyo last month, and an Indiecade game showcase
at the E3 Business and Media Summit this past July, another showcase set for the
week after E for All in Nottingham, England. “We are thrilled to provide the
general public a window into the creative bustling fringes of the independent
game development community.” said Stephanie Barish founder and managing director
of IndieCade. "The E3 Business and Media Summit this past summer was a private
venue primarily for industry insiders. At this E for All the general public will
be able to see highly inventive and creative games that are made by people like
themselves.”

For this showcase, IndieCade invited
approximately 40 developers to submit works, and selected 18 games to feature in
the event. The games were developed by individuals, small studios, and students.
Curators for the showcase included Barish, Celia Pearce, IndieCade Festival
Chair and Sam Roberts, the director of the Slamdance Guerilla Game Competition.
“We wanted to show games developed by independent game makers not constrained by
narrow genre and market segmentation typically imposed by marketing departments
of the large established game makers,” said IndieCade Festival Chair Celia
Pearce. Roberts added, “We really wanted to show works that were coming from the
heart; works that conveyed passion and creative vision from the Indie
community.”

About IndieCade

IndieCade supports independent game development
and sponsors a series of international showcases and festivals for the future of
independent games. It encourages, publicizes, and cultivates innovation and
artistry in interactive media, helping to create a public perception of games as
rich, diverse, artistic, and culturally significant. IndieCade’s events and
related production and publication programs are designed to bring visibility to
and facilitate the production of new works within the emerging independent game
movement. Like the independent videogame developer community itself, IndieCade’s
focus is global and includes producers in Asia, Europe, Australia, and anywhere
else independent games are made and played. IndieCade was formed by Creative
Media Collaborative, an alliance of industry producers and leaders founded in
2005.
