Hugh Jackman suggests next Wolverine film will be his last

After 15 years, Jackman may be retracting his claws for good

For the past 15 years, Hugh Jackman has been the face of Marvel's icon hero, Wolverine. Well, if a recent Instagram post by the Australian actor is any indication, his time as the iconic, adamantium clawed mutant might be comign to an end.

Jackman posted to Instagram the following photo with the text: "WOLVERINE …ONE LAST TIME. HJ."

The post is a bit ambiguos as Jackman has been rumored to reprise his role in next year's X-Men: Apocalypse. If he does appear in Apocalypse, than it's more likely that his photo is referencing the untitled sequel to 2013's The Wolverine which is slated for 2017. It's the third film in the spinoff Wolverine series. So there's a chance we might actually see him as Wolverine two more times before he retracts his adamantium claws for good.

The photo comes at an odd time, considering Jackman recently spoke with Cigar Aficionado about how he never wants to stop playing Wolverine — how he wants to keep playing that character "until I die." And really, I don't think anyone else wants him to stop either. Since 2000, Jackman has played Wolverine in seven films: X-Men, X-Men 2, X-Men: The Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, X-Men: First Class, and The Wolverine.

As far as I'm concerned, Hugh Jackman is Wolverine.
