Here’s how Mass Effect’s backwards compatibility looks on Xbox One

Yeah, we needed this feature.

Xbox One owners that are a part of the Preview Program have had the opportunity to demo the first games that Microsoft has made available for their new Xbox 360 backwards compatibility feature on the Xbox One.

The Xbox One's backwards compatibility is not unlimited, Microsoft will be making games of their choosing available in batches (but they would like to know the games you want to see available too).

One of the first Xbox 360 games available for play on the Xbox One is the original Mass Effect game. Early impressions of Mass Effect's gameplay on the Xbox One shows a number of improvements, although they are reported to be nothing "groundbreaking" — besides the fact that it's an Xbox 360 game on the Xbox One.

Overall, Mass Effect runs better on the Xbox One. Load times have been reduced by anywhere from four to two seconds, textures load in much faster, transitions between cutscenes and gameplay are smoother, cutscenes tend to play out faster because the game has faster loading and clothing is darker on the Xbox One.
