Hatred puts you in the shoes of a mass murderer

And it's pretty unsettling

When I sat down at my desk this morning, the last thing I expected was to open up an email containing a trailer for a game like Hatred. Hatred is an isometric shooter where you play as the villain who hunts down innocent people. Yeah, you read that right.

The antagonist whom you play as is sick of the world around him, and wants nothing more than to watch it burn. The trailer certainly gives you a pretty good idea of the overall tone of the game.

I'm actually pretty surprised, considering the time we live in, that a game like this is being made. With school shootings and other acts of violence being blamed on video games, I can't help but think Hatred could be the next scapegoat for such issues.

The press release states:

Destructive Creations is an experienced indie team that, in times where a lot of games are heading to be polite, colorful, politically correct and trying to be some kind of higher art, rather than just an entertainment, wanted to create something against trends. Something different, something that could give the player a pure gaming pleasure. This is how the idea of Hatred – the team’s first game, was born.

I'm not quite sure whether I agree with their reasoning behind creating this game. It's going to rub people the wrong way. Hell, I felt uncomfortable watching it.

Hatred is scheduled to come out Q2 2015 on PC
