Harley Quinn getting spin-off film with ‘several of DC’s female heroes and villains’

Uh... Please don't make is some sisterhood bonding movie.

It's been said that Harley Quinn deserved her own standalone film and while we still aren't getting that, we are one step closer. According to reports, Warner Bros. is working on a spin-off film that will include Harley Quinn, as well as "several of DC’s female heroes and villains."

Details on which heroes and villains will appear in the movie have not been confirmed, however, The Hollywood Reporter is suggesting that Batgirl and the Birds of Prey will be featured in the yet-to-be-named film.

Margot Robbie will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn in the spin-off and will also be producing the untitled film. Who is writing the film has not been revealed, but the supposed reasoning behind the spin-off is that Margot Robbie dove into the DC comics after getting the part and fell in love with a number of DC characters.

In an interesting twist, DC recently released the DC SuperHero Girls comicbook, which focuses on Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Batman villainess Poison Ivy, Katana and Bumblebee. Hopefully the movie is darker than the high school focused comic and nothing like the SNL trailer for Black Widow's movie (it was a joke, but Super Girl is basically the same thing as the joke trailer). It's more than likely the film will be some kind of twist on the Birds of Prey comic series that featured a number of female characters.

Both Quinn and Katana will be introduced to us in Suicide Squad.
