Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 confirmed by director James Gunn

Can you smell the money?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 hits theaters in May, and already has fans excited. Kurt Russell as Ego the living planet and Peter's dad along with the setup for Infinity War leaves a lot to be excited. Even James Gunn admits he's excited about it in a new interview with Complex, and even confirms that Volume 3 is happening.

There's a bit of a twist, however. Gunn noted that although it's happening "for sure", he's not sure if he will be the one to direct it.

There will be a Guardians 3, that's for sure. We're trying to figure it out. I'm trying to figure out what I want to do really, that's all it is. I got to figure out where I want to be, what I want to spend the next three years of my life doing. You know, I'm going to make another big movie; is it the Guardians or something else? I'm just going to figure it out over the next couple of weeks.

Let's make one thing clear here. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is going to make boatloads of money. In fact, you're going to need boats for the boats full of money there will be so much. We know this, and more importantly, Gunn knows this. With the success of the first film and the sure upcoming success of Vol 2, Gunn may be setting himself up for a nice little contract bump in order to take the reigns once again for Vol 3.

Guess we'll have to wait and see how it plays out, but at least we know it's happening. Timeline wise it would take place after Infinity War, which would also be a lead in for Phase 4 of the Marvel universe. What do you want Vol 3 of Guardians to cover? Let us know below
