Gathering

Kingdom
Under Fire

Korean-Based
Developer to Deliver Real-Time Strategy Game Fused with

Role-Playing
Elements

Dallas,
TX, September XX, 2000 – Korean-based game developer Phantagram, Ltd.

and
Gathering of Developers, the developer-driven computer and video game

publisher,
today announced further details on Kingdom Under Fire, the upcoming

hybrid
real-time strategy (RTS) and role-playing (RPG) game. Kingdom Under Fire

offers
gamers dynamic real-time strategy play enhanced with role-playing

elements
and three unique play modes, all set in a fantasy world marred by

warring
factions. This genre-bending title will put gamers in control of seven

playable
characters who interact in both the RTS and RPG modes, allowing players

to
affect the hero?s development as well as the progression of the game?s two

races,
Human and Devil. Published by Gathering of Developers and distributed by

Take
Two Interactive?s Jack of All Games, Kingdom Under Fire will be released

this
October for the PC for a suggested retail price of $39.95.

Story

Kingdom
Under Fire places players in the ancient land of Bersiah. One hundred

years
ago, a sinisterly powerful Lich mage ruled the land. Seven heroes of Xok

sought
the old dragon, Nible, in an effort to discover the source of the mighty

power
of the evil mage?s magic. During their quest, one of the heroes, Rick

Miner,
is killed. Devastated by their colleague?s death, The Xok Knights

borrowed
the power from the old dragon?s heart to resurrect Rick Miner. The

resurrection
was successful but not without its consequences. Rick Miner

returns
to the living world as the dark Rick Blood, a twisted version of his

former
self, possessing all the magical power of Nible. Bent on taking over the

land
of Bersiah, Rick Blood is influenced by the Lich clan to use the power of

the
ancient heart to serve them. Now, a new union must stand against Rick Blood

and
foil the Lich plot. It is up to Gernot, the prince of Azillia, Curian, the

leader
of the anti-Devil group ?Great Origin,? the great magician Moonlight, and

Dragon
Knight Keither, to save Bersiah from darkness.

Game
Play

Kingdom
Under Fire?s players are charged with the control of over 70 units, led

by
heroes each with their own background and storyline. As the game progresses,

seven
character-specific and 20

race-specific
missions unravel hidden truths about the races and overall

storyline.
Set in a typical RTS environment, players build and control the

units
and resources while devising and executing strategic combat. Throughout

the
game, the player is expected to maintain three types of resources: gold,

iron,
and mana. Gold and iron will directly affect combat aspects of the game,

like
the strategy options or the availability of weapons. Mana affects magic

ability
consisting of 60+ different magic spells.

Granting
significant control over character development, Kingdom Under Fire lets

players
delve deep into the individual aspects of both the Human and Devil

races,
utilizing different strategies for each unit, and guide them through the

20
specialized missions. At the end of each random encounter and story-relevant

battle,
survivors gain experience that allow the troops to become stronger and

the
heroes to level-up. Players will then be able to adjust attribute scores,

determining
how the heroes will grow within the game and advance through the 14

available
experience levels.

At
various points in the storyline, an RPG mode launches and the hero unit

leaders
will break away on quests during which players will uncover more of the

storyline,
as well as information about each race, their subplots and storyline

secrets.
Kingdom Under Fire?s RPG aspect will also offer more detail pertaining

to
the seven unique heroes. In addition to RTS and RPG modes, a Hero Death Match

mode
will be available as a multi-player option. Gamers will be able to choose

a
hero character to battle head-to-head with opponents.

Playing
through Phantagram’s WARGATE.net game server, gamers can play Kingdom

Under
Fire in three multi-player modes: real-time strategy, hero deathmatch and

hero
RPG Online Quest. In the

real-time
strategy mode, up to eight players can join a game simultaneously.

Hero
deathmatch mode features various magic skills and items. Similar to the

single
player mode, in the hero RPG Online Quest, players assume the role of a

hero
and travel through 14 levels of layered dungeons and caves while battling

enemies.
