Gamers really, really want Activision to remaster Modern Warfare 2 for Xbox One and PS4

Petition to remaster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 grows to 100,000 supporters

I don't know if game companies really listen to petitions, nor do I know how many signatures on an online petition would be needed to grab Activision's attention. Regardless, thousands of gamers have flocked to change.org to sign a petition in hopes of getting Activision to remaster Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for next gen consoles.

Modern Warfare 2 released in 2009 for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC to critical acclaim by both media and fans alike. To this day, the game's multiplayer remains as one of the best we've seen from the franchise, but the petition notes "At the moment [Modern Warfare 2] for the PS3 and Xbox [360] is just overrun by hackers."

The full petition reads:

I speak for every one when I say that Modern Warfare 2 was one of Activision's best game. Just a fun & enjoyable game that really gives you that nostalgic feeling. The guns, maps, kill streaks were just incredible. At the moment mw2 for the ps3 & xbox is just overrun by hackers. If they remaster the game, & sort a couple things out (e.g noob tubing)it would make a lot of people happy.

Admittedly, I haven't played Modern Warfare 2 in years, but I do distinctly remember it as being one of my favorites in the series. I played that multiplayer like crazy! Apparently, thousands of others agree as the petition, which is asking for 150,000 signatures, currently sits at just under 100,000.

I doubt signatures alone will convince Activision to remaster the game, but seeing as how many other titles are being remastered for Xbox One and Xbox 360, I'm surprised Activision hasn't hopped on the bandwagon. Just imagine two Call of Duty games releasing in one year. The universe might explode.
