Full character descriptions for Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show

Thanks to TV Line, we've learned a little more about the Joss Whedon TV show set in the Avengers universe. S.H.I.E.L.D. is expected to premier in 2013 on ABC, and Whedon is handling the helm the pilot and write the series with his brother, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen.

S.H.I.E.L.D. will be live-action and follow the peacekeeping group led by Nick Fury in the Marvel movies. It is an acronym for Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division. And thanks to casting details for the pilot that TVLine has obtained, we know a couple of characters and descriptions from the show. Who knows if their names will stay this, or if these characters aren't being thrown out there to throw us off, but here they are:

Skye: This late-20s woman sounds like a dream: fun, smart, caring and confident — with an ability to get the upper hand by using her wit and charm.

Agent Grant Ward: Quite the physical specimen and "cool under fire," he sometimes botches interpersonal relations. He's a quite one with a bit of a temper, but he's the kind of guy that grows on you.

Agent Althea Rice: Also known as "The Cavalry," this hard-core soldier has crazy skills when it comes to weapons and being a pilot. But her experiences have left her very quiet and a little damaged.

Agent Leo Fitz and Agent Jemma Simmons: These two came through training together and still choose to spend most of their time in each other's company. Their sibling-like relationship is reinforced by their shared nerd tendencies — she deals with biology and chemistry, he's a whiz at the technical side of weaponry.

So there you have it. What do you think of these characters and their descriptions? Any stand out for you? Any certain actors you'd like to see? Remember, Nathan Fillion can't play all of them.
