FreeStyleGames and Activision Having “Positive Discussions”

When we last reported on the status of DJ Hero developer FreeStyleGames, the company’s future as a subsidiary of Activision was undetermined. With the sudden cancellation of the Guitar Hero franchise (which includes DJ Hero) and no new DLC plans for any music games past February, it appeared that FreeStyleGames would soon shut down, as well. The developer recently released a statement in an attempt to clear up any confusion regarding the current status of the company.

According to the developer, possible directions for FreeStyleGames are being discussed with Activision. What these talks entail is still unknown. “We continue positive discussions with Activision around possible routes for FreeStyleGames. We have not reached an agreement as of today, however we are in continued dialogue and we hope to have more news soon.”

FreeStyleGames engaging in “positive discussions” with Activision is certainly good news for the time being. It seems the developer has bought itself some time to investigate goals and directions for future games. Bizarre Creations was in talks with Activision last year, but just last week we saw the closure of the company after over 15 years in the industry.
