Free Slender Man game inspires team to create their own game using Source

The Slender Man is all the rage nowadays! There are various Kickstarters centered around it, a YouTube channel dedicated to uncovering the mystery behind it, free downloadable games based on it. Let's face it, old Slendy is pretty much part of our pop culture nowadays.

A few weeks ago we came across Slender, a downloadable game that tasks you with finding eight pages in a dark forest, while being on the run from this strange, paranormal being. It looked to be heavily inspired by the aforementioned YouTube channel, Marble Hornets, as the pages you have to find in the game are identical to the ones from the channel.

It seems that a team of modders have now found inspiration behind this free Slender Man game, and are working on their own, four player version, using Valve's graphic engine, Source.

According to their ModDB:

Slender: Source is based off of the legend of the Slenderman which is a mythical creature often depicted as a tall, thin figure wearing a black suit and a blank face. Players must work together to collect a certain amount of creepy dolls all while trying to avoid the abomination that is the Slenderman. The kick? No weapons.

Sounds creepy right? I'm all caught up in this Slender Man craze, so I'm definitely excited to see how this game turns out, especially considering the free game, Slender, is graphically…not that great. Will better graphics mean the game will be more terrifying? We'll just have to wait and see.

If you want to be a part of the project, make sure to visit their ModDB page, as they're looking for animated character models of Slendy himself.
