EA Access on Steam will launch soon, Here’s what it offers

Coming Soon

Electronic Arts and Steam are ushering in a new era of partnership. And probably none other than EA’s gaming subscription is a sure sign that EA has big plans on the PC’s premier gaming service. EA Access is going to launch soon on Steam and will give its subscribers access to all of EA’s games at a very affordable monthly cost.

The info website on Steam for EA Access is live now but there is no concrete date when the service will go live apart an elusive ‘Coming Soon’. What we do know however is what the service will entail and how much it is going to cost.

At a meager $4.99 per month or even better $29.99 per year, Steam users will be able to enjoy EA Access. It’s different in what it offers compared to other gaming subscriptions though, so it’s worth going over detail.

Unlike Xbox Game Pass for PC or Uplay+, subscribers of EA Access will not be able to play all of Electronic Arts’ titles. Neither will it include access to new games on Day-1. Instead, you’ll be able to try ‘select new releases’ for up to 10 hours and get access to some of the best titles from popular franchises like Battlefront, Need for Speed, Battlefront, and more.

There will also be exclusive in-game content for subscribers and an extra discount if you desire to purchase EA games. In that sense, it’s pretty much the same what Origin Basic offers on EA’s own digital storefront Origin. Does this mean a ‘Premier’ tier will come to Steam too? That remains to be seen.

It’s going to be interesting whether other gaming subscriptions will make the jump on Steam as well in the future. At the moment, it looks like Microsoft and Ubisoft are content with their strategy.
