E3 2018: Death Stranding gets first gameplay trailer

We have gameplay!

After his departure from Konami following the messy development of Metal Gear Solid V, legendary game director Hideo Kojima found himself at Sony developing a brand new sci-fi game known as Death Stranding which promises to have an ambitious story and mechanics.

We have no idea what Death Stranding is about really but it looks absolutely fascinating with a naked Norman Reedus, weird babies, Guillermo del Toro, a menacing Mads Mikkelsen, and weird monsters/creatures. At tonight’s E3 press conference, Sony gave us an extended look at the game featuring some hints of gameplay which seem to just be… walking and delivering some packages?

We really don’t quite understand what’s going on so we’ll let the official description take it from here:

“From legendary game creator Hideo Kojima comes an all-new, genre-defining experience for the PlayStation®4. Besieged by death’s tide at every turn, Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre-defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more.”

Kojima has also added two new stars to the star-studded cast of Death Stranding with Léa Seydoux (Spectre, Inglorious Bastards) and Lindsay Wagner (The Six Million Dollar Man) who play mysterious female characters in the game. While Kojima has said this game will have a unique online experience, Death Stranding looks to be a very intimate single-player story with few other characters as it seems to be a post-apocalyptic setting, other than that not much is known at this point.

You can view the all-new gameplay trailer above.

Death Stranding still has no release date but will release exclusively on PlayStation 4 whenever it launches.
