TOGA! TOGA! TOGA!
DREAMCATCHER GAMES ANNOUNCES THE RELEASE
OF PAX ROMANA FOR PC
DreamCatcher Games today held the mother of
all toga parties with the announcement of Pax Romana, an epic historical
strategy game for PC in November 2003. Pax Romana will be distributed in the UK
by Mindscape.
Designed by the creators of Europa
Universalis, Pax Romana is based in ancient Rome and features both strategic and
political gameplay. The strategic aspect is very much a battle of cunning and
well-planned field tactics, whereas the political side involves the manipulation
of senators and generals alike, as politicians seek to gain military and
financial power. Wannabe politicians can even assume the role of characters such
as Caesar, Pompey or Crassus and lead their factions into 40 different political
and battle scenarios.
Pax Romana features an intelligent and
intuitive interface with five real-time game speeds and multiplayer
functionality for up to six players. The game’s depth and accuracy is
unrivalled, with six different political parties and dozens of opponents; a
historically accurate reproduction of ancient Rome’s political, economical and
military structure.
Pax Romana features a huge map with 500
European regions and four levels of zoom. Furthermore, gamers face more than 40
different army units with discipline, morale and experience levels and take part
in nearly 150 historical events.
Ultimately the victor is the player who uses
their political influence, wealth or military force to become the leader of Rome
– and even then only if Rome herself is victorious.
Pax Romana will be published by DreamCatcher
Games and distributed by Mindscape in November 2003, price 19.99.
