Dragon Quest X Is Still Going Ahead

Dragon Quest creator Yuji Horii has confirmed that Dragon Quest X is still headed to the Wii despite a massive lack of news since its reveal in 2008. Talking to Nintendo Power, Horii confirmed that the title is in development and they’re happy with the progress.

“All we can say is that development is going well and we’re on the last parts of the game,” he said. “We can’t really share much else at this point, but by the end of this year we should be able to announce something regarding it.”

Horii also stated that due to requests from fans, the game will take influence from the Dragon Quest VIII system that launched with the game in 2004. Though Dragon Quest X is being made solely for the Wii, Horii also said that he may put out more handheld games in the future.

“Of course, in the future we might develop on handhelds again, so it’s really a case-by-case basis. It all depends on what the customer wants at that time,” he said. A man of the people, it seems, and a system that has zero flaws when it comes to creating games. Maybe the folks at Bethesda should opt for a similar approach considering the recent announcement concerning Prey 2 hasn’t gone down well.
