Dragon Ball Z Action RPG Project Z announced for 2019

A single-player experience with Goku

Bandai Namco formally announced their newest Dragon Ball game. This time, it’s not a multiplayer brawler but a meaty single-player action-RPG. Dragon Ball Game – Project Z: Action RPG is the mouthful working title and is planned to come out this year for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Check out the awesome gameplay trailer below!

Dragon Ball games aren’t really that uncommon. Pretty understandable for one of the most important anime series ever, and highly responsible for the Japanese art form to become a success in the West. In recent years, fans of the over-the-top action series have been able to enjoy the excellent Xenoverse games and Dragon Ball Fighter Z.

While being very formidable games set in the vast Dragon Ball universe and very well-received by fans and critics, a true single-player game in the franchise hasn’t been released in quite some time. Things have been heating up on this front two weeks ago when Bandai Namco teased Project Z, an action-RPG Dragon Ball game to start development this year.

Now, the tease has received a substantial update in form a pretty sweet gameplay trailer, and a release time frame. For having been just unveiled to start development a couple weeks ago, Project Z is set to come out in 2019. A surprisingly short wait for gamers who want to experience a story-based adventure with their favourite characters.

The trailer also tells us quite a bit about which Dragon Ball characters will be featured in the new game and which story arcs are likely going to be featured. But that is merely speculation as Bandai Namco has not yet confirmed whether the story is going to be a retelling of the classic story or an original tale. But one thing we know, Project Z will focus on the franchises main character Goku.

That’s all Bandai Namco has shared for now but with the projected short development time, stay tuned for more news about Project Z in the future.
