Back in December, we reported that Death Rally, Remedy's beloved little racer, had reached 1.8 million sales. That's an impressive number, and it's certain to have increased by now. The game, which was originally released for the PC, made a huge splash on iOS devices and has been praised for delivering a fun mobile gaming experience.
Now Remedy is looking to expand its popular IP. Where exactly is it taking the racer? Down to Android land, that's where! Death Rally was just released on the Android Marketplace in Canada, and Remedy has confirmed that North American Android owners can expect the game to land sometime in March.
"Remedy is proud to announce that the massively successful Combat Racer, Death Rally, is coming to Android devices in March. For that, we want to fine tune our engines and polish every square inch of chrome to a high mirror shine. To achieve that goal, we will be shamelessly using Canadians as test drivers, because they’re braver than ordinary people. Accordingly, Death Rally becomes available on the Android Marketplace in Canada today in preparation for our global launch!"
The big news came courtesy of Remedy's Alan Wake forums. Considering just how popular the game is on the iPhone, I'd say this is a huge treat for Android owners. Keep an eye out on this one folks.
