Dead Rising 4 won’t feature the 72-hour time limit

Adios!

In the past, Dead Rising players only had 72 in-game hours to complete the main campaign. The time limit was found in Dead Rising 2 and in Dead Rising 3' Nightmare mode. Dead Riding 4, however, will not succumb to the divisive time limit.

Capcom Vancouver studio head Joe Nickolls laid out the reason behind the removal:

"We did a ton of user research on it, and the majority of the people said they didn't really love the timer–they wanted to explore. There's so much hidden side content that when we did it with a timer, people were just getting pissed off because they couldn't finish half of what they wanted to finish."

Nickolls went on to add that the game has much more going on this time around and a timer you take away from exploring the 'dense' world of Dead Rising 4. "The world has been designed with multiple levels of exploration," he said. "It's so dense this time. There are stores, there are apartments above the stores, there are hidden areas and rooms."
