Daisy Ridley to exit Star Wars after Episode 9

Episode IX will likely mark the end of Rey's character.

Yes, I know we're only just two weeks away from the second entry of the new Star Wars trilogy and we're already talking about the end but it's interesting news nonetheless. When The Force Awakens released in 2015, introduced Hollywood and Star Wars newcomer Daisy Ridley to the world. Fans fell in love with her portrayal of the young female Jedi, Rey, and the actress' charisma both on and off the big screen but come 2019, she plans to leave the galaxy that's far, far away.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Ridley said that she isn't considering staying around for another trilogy and will exit after she finishes her story in Episode IX.

“No…For me, I didn’t really know what I was signing on to. I hadn’t read the script, but from what I could tell, it was really nice people involved, so I was just like, ‘Awesome.’ Now I think I am even luckier than I knew then, to be part of something that feels so like coming home now. I am really, really excited to do the third thing and round it out, because ultimately, what I was signing on to was three films. So in my head, it’s three films. I think it will feel like the right time to round it out.”

Ridley's first feature film was in The Force Awakens so it's not exactly surprising that she wants to use that as a jumping off point for her career and explore other projects, as well as not eventually become typecast. Ridley has already begun her journey into the other realms of Hollywood by starring in the 2017 remake of Murder on the Orient Express and she has several projects that have wrapped due out in 2018 and 2019.

Daisy Ridley's next film will be Star Wars: The Last Jedi which releases on December 15th, 2017.
