Gamers were eagerly awaiting the big Dragon Quest X reveal for a long time. When Nintendo and Square Enix finally made the announcement, it's safe to say fans of the series were equal parts stoked and surprised. With the decision to make Dragon Quest X an MMO-type experience for the Wii and Wii U, it's obvious the developers had a new vision for the direction of the series.
So far we've been treated to a few screenshots and a nice trailer, but Square Enix decided to unload a bunch of images for gamers to sink their proverbial teeth into. The game looks like a colorful assortment of cheery environments and charming characters, and I look forward to seeing more footage of the game in the near future. Check out the recently released screens below.
So what do you think? Not too shabby, eh? I really dig the art direction of Dragon Quest X, but given the low technical quality of the graphics, it's obvious these are shots of the Wii version of the game.
Dragon Quest X is scheduled to launch sometime in 2012. We're bound to get some more media between now and then, so expect more straight from Square Enix. Here's hoping we get some gameplay footage of Dragon Quest X fairly soon.
