Bethesda ‘Actively Working’ On AMD/NVidia Driver Issue for Rage

Everybody knew RAGE was going to look spectacular on PC.  Unfortunately, many PC gamers aren't able to enjoy the glorious HD graphics RAGE offers due to some sort of Nvidia and AMD driver problems.

Bethesda is well aware of the Nvidia and AMD driver issues plaguing RAGE for PC gamers.  Pete Hines, VP of PR and Marketing at Bethesda, has attempted to weather the storm.  In an attempt to reassure PC gamers having graphical problems with the PC version of RAGE, Pete confirmed via Twitter:

"I was sharing an article written by someone else.  We're actively working with AMD and NVIDIA and id to resolve the issues."

Pete Hines has been giving a few tips that may help solve some of the problems.

"Don't use the current rage perf. driver – package includes very old OGL files, that's why your seeing corruption etc." He then wrote, "Believe that is related tot he bad AMD driver that I just tweeted about.  Wait for driver update and see if it's fixed."

In addition to the "update" and fixes Pete Hines has been tweeting, Bethesda just released an official blog post confirming some of the fixes they've been working on.

While many folks are playing RAGE on PC and not running into issues, we’re aware that some of you are experiencing issues with screen tearing and texture issues. These problems can be attributed to driver issues, and we’re currently working with Nvidia and AMD to resolve them as quickly as possible.

We know that you want to experience RAGE at its absolute best, so we’ll continue to use this blog post to keep you posted.

  • Yesterday we posted the latest beta drivers for both card manufacturers on our blog. We’ve learned that AMD is reporting issues with their driver update, and you should not use it.
  • Note on the Battlefield 3 beta drivers: CTD is 100% with those drivers. You need to update to the most recent driver when AMD updates, which we’re told will be in a few hours.
  • Nvidia users should try updating RAGE to the current beta driver. When this driver is updated, we’ll let everyone know.

I'm sure this isn't the launch Bethesda was hoping for, but they are doing a good job keeping us updated on the current fixes taking place.
