Bastion is a great game. Not only did we award it an impressive 9 / 10 score when we reviewed it back in July, but it also took a spot on our Top 10 Indie Games of 2011 list. The game is simply outstanding, offering wonderful visuals, a great soundtrack, and an awesome narrator. Oh, and the gameplay is pretty damn amazing, too.
That's why it's good to see that Bastion has managed to sell really well thus far. In a blog post on the Supergiant Games site, Creative Director and Writer Greg Kasavin let us all know that the game has managed to sell over 500,000 copies since its launch on Xbox Live Arcade.
"We're happy to have this many people playing and to be in a position to make more games on our own terms," posted Kasavin. "When we set out to make Bastion, a sales number like that seemed astronomical to us, so it feels great to have hit that mark. It goes to show that a lot of folks out there like what we're doing and want us to keep going, which is great, because we intend to stick together as a team and do just that."
In addition to selling well over 500,000, Bastion also took home several awards and was listed on many top 10 lists across the internet. It's well-deserved, and it's great to see a game like Bastion succeeding. If you have yet to play the game, be sure to snag it as soon as possible. It's really pretty damn awesome.
