Assassin’s Creed Valhalla gets personal with Story Trailer

Ubisoft has released the story trailer for the upcoming return of its premier franchise with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The in-engine trailer is shining a light on the setting of the new protagonist Eivor. Watch it below!

It’s hard to believe but the Valhalla actually marks the long-awaited return of the AC franchise into players’ hands. It has been a whole two years since Assassin’s Creed Odyssey came out but you wouldn’t believe it going by Ubisoft’s extended post-launch support.

But indeed, with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla the legendary assassination franchise is preparing to make its grand entrance back to the spotlight. The two-year pause apparently gave the developer enough time to enhance the winning formula with interesting new additions.

Become Eivor, a fierce Viking raider torn between their duty to their brother Sigurd and a personal quest for glory. Driven from Norway by endless wars and dwindling resources, Eivor’s clan must secure a future among the broken kingdoms of England. During their journey, Eivor will face powerful figures including Saxon kings and the warmongering sons of Ragnar Lothbrok, as well as a mysterious, growing threat to England’s destiny.

While the Norse setting is a first in Assassin’s Creed series, it’s the gameplay aspects that truly shine here. Pretty much all previous entries have been fairly solitary endeavors, with the player character acting alone and from the shadows.

In Valhalla, this gets flipped upside-down. Befitting of the Vikings, Eivor is a part of a larger clan and thus lives and fights with his brethren. While there will be solo experiences aplenty, the newly introduced settlement mechanic alongside large scale siege battles are a welcome addition to the franchise.

Eivor and his clan will not only fight the English on their soil but also engage in against mythical foes that root in the deep history of the island nation.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is launching November 10th for the PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Google Stadia. The PlayStation 5 version will come out together with the console on November 12th in North America.
