There are now more than 300,000 apps available through iTunes for iOS devices. This milestone was reached within just over two years of the app store’s grand opening.
Approximately 1,000 new apps are released every day, and roughly 30 percent of them are distributed for free. Books account for the most downloads at 16.8 percent, but games are very close behind with a 16.6 share of the market.
The Android app market, still infantile and smelling of placenta, is reportedly exceeding 113,000 apps, currently.
And yet, 95% of these are complete and utter garbage. That last part’s a GameZone exclusive. Write it down.
