Apex Legends available now on Consoles & PC for free

Will the Modern Warfare genius Respawn revolutionize yet another genre?

The incredibly short wait is over, as Respawn Entertainment’s barely one-day old news of the legendary shooter developer’s plan to make their own Battle Royale game has culminated in the super-quick release of Apex Legends. You can download the game right now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Origin.  Best of all, Apex Legends can be had for the low price of zero bucks!

After a whirlwind of rumors and teases over the weekend, Respawn Entertainment has made quick business of their newest project by releasing it immediately to the public. A welcome yet unique way to handle the situation. A new battle royale multiplayer shooter appearing is hardly a noteworthy occasion these days but what should rightfully make any shooter fan take a good look at Apex Legends is its developer.

None other than Respawn, the successor game studio of Infinity Ward, are the talented folks behind Apex Legends. With a mighty impressive resume of industry-changing titles like Modern Warfare under their belt, Apex Legends could very well become one if not the best battle royale experience on the market. With their impressive Titanfall series, Respawn has not only proved that they still got it, but they perfected first-person shooting.

In Apex Legends, players can enter the battlefield by choosing among a cast of eight unique fighters, each with their own special skills. These Legends are definitely going to become a major differentiation among other battle royale games. You can get to know the Legends in greater detail on the game’s homepage. For now, there is a single gamemap called Kings Canyon but more maps may be released in the future.

As for the business model of Apex Legends, it’s a Free-to-Play game with an in-game store. Respawn is putting emphasis that purchases are only of cosmetic nature and that there won’t be a way to buy yourself into victory. A great detail which is particularly important with competitive multiplayer games. Much more info about in-game economy can be found in the FAQ.

Since there is no entry fee, you can download Apex Legends right now and see if it tickles your battle royale fancy.
