All the games shown at the Xbox Series X event

First-party games will be shown in July.

Many were expecting things like Cyberpunk 2077, Dying Light 2, Batman, and other grand scale games at the May 2020 Xbox Series X event. We didn’t really get that. Instead, we got some smaller titles to pad out the line-up.

Microsoft has promised an event in July which will blow the lid off of their first-party titles from Xbox Game Studios including Halo Infinite. For now, here’s what was shown at the Xbox Series X event.

Bright Memory Infinite

This FPS looks like an interesting blend between something like Titanfall and Back to the Future. There’s wall-running, gun fights, swordplay, car chases, and more, it looks to be an incredibly fast paced and frenetic shooter. You can view the official first look and description below.

“Bright Memory: Infinite is an all-new lightning-fast fusion of the FPS and action genres, created by FYQD-Studio. Combine a wide variety of skills and abilities to unleash dazzling combo attacks. Bright Memory: Infinite is set in a sprawling, futuristic metropolis in the year 2036. A strange phenomenon for which scientists can find no explanation has occurred in the skies around the world. The Supernatural Science Research Organization (SRO) has sent agents out to various regions to investigate this phenomenon. It is soon discovered that these strange occurrences are connected to an archaic mystery – an as-of-yet unknown history of two worlds, about to come to light…”

Bright Memory Infinite will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X

Dirt 5

It’s Dirt. What more do you need to know? There are cars. There’s dirt. It’s capable of running at 120 FPS. It has Nolan North and Troy Baker. There you go.

“DIRT 5 writes a new chapter in the legacy of DiRT – bolder and braver than ever before. Travel the globe, tame the most incredible off-road machines with your friends, and be part of a vibe that delivers big on epic action, pure expression, and unbridled style. Get your first taste of DIRT 5 in our announce trailer, all captured in-game, showcasing wheel-to-wheel action, stunning environments and a brand new take on amplified racing.”

Dirt 5 will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X

Scorn

This one was definitely the most vague of the bunch. The trailer was incredibly cryptic but teased an almost Alien/Prometheus-like look at its unnerving universe. There’s really not much to say other than it looks to be incredibly creepy.

“Scorn is set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry. It is designed around the idea of “being thrown into the world”. Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. Every location contains its own theme, puzzles and characters that are integral in creating a cohesive world.”

Scorn will be available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X

Chorus

Chorus puts you in the cockpit of a starfighter as you blast your way through space. It looks super fast and fluid while also bringing us back to a bygone genre. It looks to blend together things like Star Wars with the tone of something like Hellblade to a degree. You can get a better idea of the game below.

“Chorus is a new space-flight combat shooter releasing in 2021. Become Nara and Forsaken, her sentient starfighter, on a compelling, personal journey of redemption. Unlock devastating weapons and mind-bending abilities in a true evolution of the space-combat shooter. Explore breath-taking interstellar vistas, ancient temples and venture beyond our waking reality. Outgun, outwit, and outmaneuver your enemies in an epic quest to free the galaxy from oppression.”

Chorus will launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X in 2021.

Live out your vampire dreams however you want to. Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 allows you to choose a side in a long-brewing vampire feud with all varying factions in the city of Seattle. You can seduce people with your vampire charm or take without asking, the choice is yours.

“Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society. Experience Seattle – a city full of alluring, dangerous, characters and factions. You are dead now but stronger, quicker, more alluring and with potential for so much more. Choose to be brutal and unflinching or cultured and seductive. Use charm, cunning, terror and sheer will to rise through vampire society. What monster will you be?”

The Ascent

The Ascent is an RPG with optional co-op set in a cyberpunk universe that oozes Blade Runner vibes. It’s a hostile world filled with blood, bullets, and all kinds of glorious loot. From what the trailer shows, it looks like it might be a top-down-esque shooter.

“The Ascent is a solo and co-op action RPG set in a cyberpunk world. The mega corporation that owns you and everyone, The Ascent Group, has just collapsed. Confusion and chaos ensue, security and order are in disarray, and without protection, everyone is left to fend for themselves. Stop gangs and hostile corporations from taking over and discover what really happened.”

The Ascent will launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X

The Medium

The team behind last year’s Blair Witch has a new Xbox Series X exclusive in the works called The Medium. With music composed by Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka, you play as a medium stuck between the living world and the spirit world. You’ll see all kinds of unspeakable tragedies including vision’s of a child murder.

The Medium will launch on Xbox Series X and PC this holiday.

Scarlet Nexus

Bandai Namco has a riveting Japanese action game called Scarlet Nexus up their sleeve. Using “psycho-kinetic abilities”, you can use the entire environment as a weapon by flinging objects around. There are all kinds of other crazy details such as mutants hunting for brains and a universe heavily inspired by classic anime and western sci-fi as well.

“In a far distant future, humanity’s last hope falls into the hands of an elite group of psionic soldiers, who battle an invincible threat known as, Others. Unravel the mysteries of a Brain Punk future caught between technology and psychic abilities in, SCARLET NEXUS.”

Scarlet Nexus will launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Second Extinction

Second Extinction is Avalanche’s new game that looks to be heavily inspired by Turok. This three-player co-op places you on a Earth conquered by mutated dinosaurs. Humanity has been ripped apart by these monstrosities with the remaining survivors fleeing to space. Take back the planet from these hellish beasts.

Second Extinction will launch on Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon

Yes, after bringing a handful of Yakuza games to Xbox, the newest entry in the Japanese series will debut on Xbox One and Xbox Series X on day one.

“Become Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking yakuza grunt left on the brink of death by the man he trusted most. Take up your legendary bat and get ready to crack some underworld skulls in dynamic RPG combat set against the backdrop of modern-day Japan.”

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla

This was supposed to be our first look at gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Valhalla… that was kind of true. There are some VERY small glimpses at in-game footage in this new trailer but it’s really not going to tell you much more than you already know about the game. Nonetheless, here’s the trailer.

Xbox Series X is set to release this holiday season.
