League of Legends Season 4 World Championship to be hosted in South Korea

League of Legends is one of the most played games in the world, so it's fitting that Riot Games wants to bring its biggest event of the year to other countries. With Season 3 officially coming to an end today and the new preseason about to kick off, Riot Games has announced that the 2014 World Championship will be held in South Korea.

"South Korea is widely considered to be a center of esports and is home to some of the most devoted fans on the planet. With a deep esports heritage, this is an ideal location to follow up the largest esports event to date and showcase the top League of Legends players," Riot Games said. "At the World Championship, they'll battle it out for the title of world's best."

Once again, Riot will host a All-Star game featuring the best League of Legends pros from each region. The 2014 All-Star game will be held in Europe, though the specific location was not announced.

"Next season will once more showcase the best teams and players in the world so get ready, the 2014 season is on its way!"

Each year, the League of Legends Championship has grown in size. Last year, the Season 3 Championship was held at the Staples Center (home of the L.A. Lakers), a huge upgrade over the previous season's University of Southern California venue. While this means a more expensive trip for American-based LoL fans, it's undoubtedly a huge upgrade.
