Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 confirmed for Wii U

Nintendo and Activision have finally confirmed that Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 will be released on the Wii U. Presenting during Nintendo's Wii U preview event in New York City, Activision's Eric Hirshberg revealed Black Ops 2 while showcasing gameplay on the Wii U.

The game runs at 60 frames per second online and players can join and play against AI bots. In addition, the Wii U's GamePad tablet serves as a way to change your load out, look at your map, or call in a streak reward. For those who prefer a more traditional Call of Duty experience, it will also support the Pro Controller.

In co-op, one player will be allowed to play on the TV screen while one plays on the GamePad screen to avoid the typical split-screen view. It's a unique concept, but I feel bad for the player who gets the GamePad screen.

And of course, because it's a Call of Duty game, zombies will be back and "better than ever". More on that will be announced at a later date.

Although confirmation of Black Ops 2 is great for Nintendo fans and upcoming Wii U owners, I can't say the announcement comes as much of a surprise. Last month a Treyarch QA tester mentioned testing for the game on the Wii U in his LinkedIn profile.
