Synopsis:

Annabel and Lucas are faced with the challenge of raising his young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years…. but how alone were they?

Mama is upfront about what’s in store: “Once upon a time…” it opens. Part horror movie, part fairy tale, it’s not hard to see what Executive Producer Guillermo Del Toro (of Pan’s Labyrinth fame) saw in this. At the same time, it isn’t the horrific or the fantastical that won me over, but the characters and their relationships.
