What has Steven Spielberg done lately? The Sci-Fi TV series Terra Nova. Appalling trash. I hope only Xbox One owners are subjected to the cock-up he'll make of Halo.

The original Xbox (the real "One") provided the purest gaming experience. You can tell what's important to Microsoft - more and more ads in the 360's dashboard evolution. To Microsoft, a new console is not about improving the gaming experience, it's about their revenue stream. Next, they'll spend a billion bucks to market this garbage to fools, just like they did with Kinect and Windows 8.

Personally, I'm not 'boiling over with anger', I'm just disinterested in anything Microsoft has to offer any more. I don't know who their target audience is but I know I ain't in it. Steam on Linux is looking better and better.

Don't want it. Conceptually, without taking into account graphical performance, the first Xbox was Microsoft's finest console. It was designed purely for PLAYING GAMES, and supported no advertising at all! Beautiful. You can have whatever you like, and you're welcome to it, but I don't want my console to be a total media hub, and I definitely don't want kinect in any form.

Please, please, please - no more next-gen rumours, ok?

It's getting really tiresome. How about we all just wait for official announcements from the manufacturers.

@No Wits:

If you can't afford a PC:

"Well maybe you should get a job and move out of your parents or grandparents house. That or get a better job and a cheaper place to live lolz!"

I don't want my game console to be an "entertainment hub" - I've already got all that stuff. I don't need the additional complexity which raises the costs and increases the unreliability. I would much prefer a game console that only plays games.

It such a laugh seeing people proudly broadcast their stupidity to others online. @No_Wits_On_530: get a new keyboard - your exclamation is jamming.

It would be terrible if the second-hand market were killed off.

It's such a pleasure browsing the shelves for old classics I missed when they were first released.

But never fear: if Microsoft do implement a ban on used games on their next console, it won't be long before someone develops a hack to defeat it.

Microsoft (and the other console makers) should instead concentrate on consoles that are easy to develop for. Development costs need to be kept down, so that developers can make a profit. We don't need $50 to $100 million game development costs for the next consoles. That will stifle the industry - a game that doesn't meet sales expectations can bankrupt a developer.

Personally, I'm not interested in the next MS Console, (I suspect a Kinect will be mandatory to use it at all and I hate that crap), but I am excited about the Wii U.
