I'm going to write a letter to my congressman.

I saw a live stream of a dissection of a colossal octopus a couple years ago from a New Zealand university. The eye was about that size. Of course, colossal octopi are incredibly rare and only live very deep underwater. But, they have been trying to understand giant squid for a long time, and from one national geographic thing I saw, the only reason they're so elusive is because they've adapted so well to recognize stimuli - meaning that they make themselves scarce when anything that could record them is around. If THAT'S true, there could be millions and millions of them - one video I saw showed 10s and possibly hundreds of them congregated in the deep, scary as it is. Personally, though, my money's on a giant sunfish, swordfish or whale. All more common and "around" florida.
