Lance Liebl commented on Opinion: No Kotaku, you weren't blacklisted for speaking 'the truth':
Oh, gotcha. Everything Kotaku did was well within their right, but just like journalists in sports or politics, you can write whatever you want as long as you deal with the consequences. The consequences here was a blacklist, much like in sports, a journalist might not be allowed in the locker room. I'm not entirely sure the public needed to know the setting of Fallout 4, because all it really did was ruin a reveal. In the end, they published it for views, much like every site does. The only difference is that they're claiming they are being blacklisted because of journalism, and the price to pay for being one. Actual journalism (which doesn't exist anymore except in rare cases) is there to create an informed public, with no concern for ratings or page views.
I liken this situation more to finding out something about The Force Awakens and writing it. That's not journalism in my opinion, because I can just find that on Reddit.
