Agree with Sacha 100% people are really not seeing the bigger picture here, staying in this current cycle will harm this industry, so many factors point towards it already, constant slim versions of products, add on gimmicks that are pointless, I am not saying next gen will not have its own gimmicks etc but what I know for sure is we will get newer and fresher gameplay experiences that current gen will never even come close too.

Too many people including the author are looking at this in a black and white sense, let's face it this console generation is done, developers are not squeezing more out of consoles, they are cutting things out They want in due to hardware restraints, its not all about better graphics, its about better ai, smoother framerates, more importantly its about developers NOT cutting ideas out because they are limited by the tech. I am tired of people saying graphics do not matter when without better graphics gameolay would be limited, it powers animation, it powers ideas, games like uncharted etc would not be half of what they are without graphics, some people are so intent on stagnating the industry because they refuse to purchase new technology, I know its financially hard times but my goodness, if that's your sole reason for wanting the games industry to stutter along at a snails pace due to hardware restaints then its not a compelling arguement. You only have to play the newest pc games that are multiplatform to know how good gaming can be, but also to see how much it held back by console tech. Some will argue VHS should have never been replaced and that high def is pointless and blu rat is just an expensive DVD, but we could also say clothes are pointless and we should all live in caves and never wash. Times evolve for the better and I for one cannot wait to see what extra power can do for this industry, if we listened to some people though gaming would be all about angry birds and playing old consoles for the rest of days, I love gaming nostalgia as much as anyone but even I am not moronic enough to believe that if we stagnate this industry will grow. In other words, I disagree but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
