So the trilogy didn't end like we wanted it to be, we didn't get enough closure and it seemed like some of our efforts during the first 2 games...
It was memorable and more realistic that it was such a hard and dark ending, I think you hit the nail on the head. I'm interested to see how they might handle the future ramifications of synthesis vs. control vs. destruction. We are too spoiled with happy endings in today's culture of instant satisfaction... life isn't all happy and we need to cherish the time we get with good friends while we have it. Garrus and Liara and my FemShep included :)

I want to add that I was glad that it wasn't a Hollywood feel-good cookie-cutter ending - we knew that sacrifices were going to be made, that we were going to lose some lives - I was surprised at how dark ME3 really turned out to be but glad as well; I thought ME2 was a little too easy to get to the "happy ending" where everyone somehow makes it through the "suicide mission".

I just finished playing the entire trilogy for the first time last night... I'm still depressed, feeling like a friend died. I LOVE how these three games kept pulling you through and how all your choices made a difference to the story (well kind of - we'll not debate the ending here). I'm going to miss my FemShep and when I saw her chest heave in the rubble there was that little spark of hope...
